S-251 amends the Criminal Code by removing Section 43. Section 43 makes it legal for schoolteachers, parents, and anyone standing in as a parent to use force to correct a child as long as the amount of force is reasonable for the circumstances.
This Bill exists to address the sixth call to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, which is to get rid of Section 43.
