S-272 – An Act to amend the Director of Public Prosecutions Act – would make it so the Director of Public Prosecutions must handle prosecutions of summary conviction offences of laws and bylaws created by First Nations. This doesn’t apply if the First Nation decides to have their own prosecutor or have set up an agreement for the provincial government to supply a prosecutor.
