C-305 – An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 (anchorage prohibition) – makes it illegal to anchor a commercial ship in certain areas on the coast of BC.

There’s a pretty decent list of areas, all of which are habitats for various endangered species like killer whales, and the government will have the ability to add to or remove from the list as needed. Anyone who goes against C-305 can be fined up to $100,000.

Worth noting that there are currently voluntary measures in place to reduce the impact of commercial ships in these areas, but Alistair argues those haven’t been effective and that’s why stricter measures need to be legislated.

C-305 is currently outside of the Order of Precedence.
