Shorter summary today as the House is off this week, but we’ve got two Motions on the Carbon Tax and a few Bill updates.
Not a lot this week as the House only just came back from break. Only real noteworthy part is an NDP Motion on the conflict in Gaza.
Fair bit happened last week, with some progress on the ArriveCAN issue and a change in the House’s hours of operation.
We’ve got updates on a few Bills, including C-273, which prevents parents and teachers from using force on children!

Opposition Motions Our first Opposition Motion this week is from Luc Berthold (Conservative, Quebec, Mégantic—L’Érable): Lots to unpack here. First, the price the first carbon tax adds to the price of gas will (after sales tax) be around 41 cents in 2030. It’s currently only 14 cents/litre. Also worth noting once again that this tax only applies in provinces/territories that don’t have their own system in place, so right now only Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, the Yukon, and Nunavut are affected.
