
S-214 – The International Mother Language Day Act – would make February 21st International Mother Language Day in recognition of the fact that, though Canada’s official languages are English and French, Canada is a diverse country where people speak many different languages. (Including over 60 Aboriginal languages)
Status
S-214 passed through the Senate and the House with nobody voting against it and was granted Royal Assent on April 27, 2023.
