Bill Updates C-3 – An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2025) A number of amendments had been proposed to the version of C-3 that came back from committee, which pretty much revert it back to what it was before it went to committee. A vote was held on the amendments and they passed with 170 in favour and 163 opposed. C-220 – No more changing sentencing based on immigration status
C-220 makes it so immigration status has no impact on sentencing for a crime.
C-245 – Keeping the feds out of Quebec’s culture
C-245 exempts Quebec from the Canadian Multiculturalism Act.

Last week there was a vote on an Opposition Motion as well as some movement on C-3 and C-12.
C-222 – Continuing new parent benefits in the event of death
C-222 allows new parents to continue collecting benefits in the event of their child dying.
C-223 – New protections from family violence for children
C-223 makes some changes to how divorce courts make decisions on child custody.
C-12 – A second attempt at new border protections
C-12 is a second attempt to change our border policy after the negative backlash over C-2.
