Happy December everyone! We’ve got a few Bill updates today and a pair of Motions, one of which addresses a recent statement from the Canadian Human Rights Commission on Christmas!

What is C-331? – The CSIS and duty of candour
C-331 requires the CSIS to report on any potential breaches of its duty of candour towards courts to the House.
What is C-367? – Promotion of hatred of antisemitism
C-367 removes certain defences for hate speech and spreading antisemitism from the Criminal Code.
What is C-366? – Substances in tampons
C-366 requires companies to include a list of substances contained in tampons on their packaging.
What is C-362? – Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Ombud Act
C-362 establishes the Office of the Ombud for the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces.
What is C-363? – Sexual offences in the military
C-363 – An Act to amend the National Defence Act (sexual offences) – makes it so sexual offences committed by military personnel will no longer fall under the jurisdiction of the military justice system. This means that anyone in the military charged with a sexual offence will be tried under the normal court system. Note that this includes attempts to commit those crimes as well as planning to commit them. Progress C-363 is currently outside of the Order of Precedence.
What is C-364? – The Criminal Code and Remote Locations
C-364 adds some new aggravating factors to be considered when a court is determining a sentence for a crime.
What is C-365? – The Consumer-led Banking Act
C-365 gives the Minister of Finance 30 days to present a plan to implement open banking in Canada.
What is C-352? – Lowering Prices for Canadians Act
C-352 makes changes to the Competition Act to increase fines for anti-competitive practices and loosen requirements to block mergers that would result in less competition.
What is C-361? – Albanian Heritage Month Act
C-361 declares November as Albanian Heritage Month.
