Happy Monday!
Not much has changed from last week, as I’m sure you’ve heard things have been bogged down a bit in the House. I’ll have more info on that on Wednesday. In the meantime, here’s the list of upcoming votes. I’d strongly suggest picking one that you care about and contacting your MP about it!
Upcoming Bill Votes – 1 hour remaining
The following Bills don’t have a scheduled date for a vote yet, but have 1 hour left for debate and are set to be voted on when that hour is up:
- C-380 – An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (plastic manufactured items) – Second Reading vote
- C-322 – An Act to develop a national framework to establish a school food program – Third Reading vote
- C-273 – An Act to amend the Criminal Code (Corinne’s Quest and the protection of children) – Third Reading vote
- C-319 – An Act to amend the Old Age Security Act (amount of full pension) – Third Reading Vote Note: This one requires a Royal Recommendation or it will automatically fail. As far as I can see it still hasn’t gotten that. If you want to see it pass contact Jenna Sudds (Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development), Randy Boissonnault (Minister of Employment, Workforce Development, and Official Languages), and of course Justin Trudeau (Prime Minister). (I’m not sure which Minister is actually responsible for this, the department mentioned in the Old Age Security Act was split between these two a while back)
Upcoming Motion Votes – 1 hour remaining
The following Motions are things I haven’t covered yet as I usually go over them when they’re voted on, but this would be a good place to start including them. These ones have 1 hour left for debate and are to be voted on when that hour is done:
M-111 – National Canadian Seafood Day
Heath MacDonald (Liberal, Prince Edward Island, Malpeque) wants the first day in October to be recognized as National Canadian Seafood Day to highlight the work of Canada’s seafood industry.
