S-276 – the Ukrainian Heritage Month Act – declares September to be Ukrainian Heritage Month.
September was chosen because apparently the first documented Ukrainian migrants arrived in Canada in September of 1891. If you thought September was already Ukrainian Heritage Month that’s because several provinces have already passed similar legislation. S-276 would just make it national.

S-276 has passed through the Senate and was waiting for its Second Reading in the House when Parliament was prorogued.
