Bill 29 – Think Twice Before You Choose Natural Gas Act (Ontario Energy Board Amendment)

Bill 29 – Think Twice Before You Choose Natural Gas Act amends the Ontario Energy Board Act to make sure that the duty of gas distributors to provide gas distribution services along their pipelines does not restrict municipalities from imposing conditions on new residential connections. These conditions would be related to municipal by-laws intended to limit greenhouse gas emissions from residential consumers.

Bill 22 – Poet Laureate of Ontario Amendment Act (French-language Poet Laureate of Ontario)

Bill 22 changes the Poet Laureate of Ontario Act (In Memory of Gord Downie) to allow for an English-language Poet Laureate and a French-language Poet Laureate, instead of just a single Poet Laureate. It also makes the necessary changes to ensure that the French-language Poet Laureate needs to have the majority of their work written in French and that at least two members of the selection panel are capable of evaluating the original French-language works.

Bill 20 – Access to Sexual Assault Evidence Kits and Provision of Sexual Assault Education Act

Bill 20 does two things. First, it changes the Post-secondary Education Choice and Excellence Act so that anyone approved to give out nursing degrees must also offer Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training, for free, to every student enrolled in the nursing program. Second, it changes the Public Hospitals Act to require hospitals to have at least 10 sexual assault evidence kits available at all times, to be provided free of charge to patients that need them.

Bill 10 – Publication of Mandate Letters Act

Original Bill here Fairly simple Bill here, it would change the Executive Council Act to require Premiers to publish mandate letters, and changes the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act to close an exemption to publishing such letters. The exemption normally applies when the disclosure would reveal the substance of deliberations of the Executive Council or its committees.

Bill 9 – Safe and Healthy Communities Act (Addressing Gun Violence)

This Bill would change the Health Insurance Act, making it so insured services will include hospital and community-based violence intervention programs, as well as trauma-informed counselling for survivors and others affected by gun violence. It also changes the Health Protection and Promotion Act to give boards of health the same tools.
